It is also possible to attend the AGM only, without the buffet lunch and South Devon Railway Rover ticket, for no charge to the L&CI, though you will need to have a South Devon Railway  ticket for the return journey from Buckfastleigh  to Totnes on the AGM train.  To book, click AGM booking above.

Note that you must book in advance, you cannot simply turn-up on the day.

The free pass ticket should be from your home station to Totnes

Rail Tickets for those without an Educational Free Pass or ‘Priv’ Facilities:

At the time of writing the cheapest ticket for the outward journey from Paddington to London Totnes is an advance single for £63 or £41.50 with a railcard or £37.80 with a GWR reward code (see below).   For the return journey, travelling on the 16.42, an advance single is £53 or £35.25  with railcard or  £31.80 with a GWR reward code.   The cheapest purchase on the day ticket is an-off peak return for £124.20 or £82.70 with a railcard.

Note advance tickets are only valid on the booked train and date and are quota-controlled at different price tiers, so early booking to secure the cheapest price is strongly recommended.

Save 40% by using GWR Rewards:  If  you have not done so already, 1) Create an account  on the GWR website at: GWR ,  2) Join GWR Rewards, 3) The next day you will be given a code to obtain 40% off GWR Advance Tickets, 5) Book on the GWR website adding the promotion code.  Note that this offer only allows a discount on GWR Advance Tickets and this offer can only be used once per person.   Note that the fare will need to be set by GWR to get the discount, this should apply to all tickets between GWR stations, and for other journeys which are substantially on the GWR route, you can check who sets the fare for a ticket at  BR Fares

Book at GWR or any National Rail operator’s website.  

It may also be worth checking if cheaper fare is available using split tickets.  The following split ticket site is recommend: Train Split.  Note that they will take a small fee of the saving if a split ticket is cheaper than a end-to-end ticket.  A fee is not charged if there is no split ticket saving.

DO NOT use thetrainline or other similar third party sites as you will pay more as these sites charge fees which National Rail Train Operator websites do not charge and despite claims, thetrainline does not obtain the optimum savings by using split tickets as their algorithm are inferior to other sites.

It is approximately a ten minute walk between Totnes National Rail station and Totnes Riverside

Note that without the Workshop visit, it is also possible to do an additional round-trip with the Rover ticket by travelling on the 14.15 from Buckfastleigh, arrive Totnes Riverside at 14.50, depart at 15.00 and arriving at Buckfastleigh at 15.30.  Or , catch the 14.15 and alight at Staverton for either refreshment at the nearby Sea Trout Inn or River Dart riverside walks (arrive Staverton 14.30, depart 16.00)
