For members with protected (safeguarded) travel facilities, generally for those members working or retired from the rail industry which used to work for British Rail, certain events are eligible for an education free pass.   Eligible events are indicated by "free pass" adjacent to the event on the Events Calendar page of this website.

The Rail Delivery Group have now  introduced an online application process, avoiding the need to print off and post /email the form.

• Apply at least 14 days in advance of the pass being required;
• Fill in the rail staff  travel  RST_XX14 application form (click Application Form button below) - select “Educational Visit” from the drop-down list under “Cater gory of Application” on the form;
• You will need to scan you L&CI membership card - attach the scanned image using the “Attached Document” and “Chose file” part of the form;
• For application reason, detail the L&CI event - N.B. only those marked “free pass” are eligible.  It is recommended that you provide the hyperlink to the event on this website - to do this navigate to the event on the site (or the general events page for meetings) then highlight the text in the address bar on your browser and with it highlighted, press [Ctrl] and [c] key at the same time.  Then go to the application reason part of the form and press [Ctrl] and [v] keys at the same time and the link should be copied;
• When you have completed all the details on the form, read the dereliction statements and if correct click the declaration tick box, then click “Submit Form”.
